#22 – Conference Wrap up for Level Two

When you have completed and checked off all the tasks in a level review your manual and notebook. If all appears in order, turn into your dentist for approval.

This “check out” is a double responsibility. You won’t be checked until you know that step thoroughly. Your “checker” will put her initials and date on your manual on the level sheet. When its your turn to do the checking, remember your responsibility. Our clients only deserve the best. If you check someone off as proficient and one of the doctors finds they are still having problems you will need to justify your ok to the doctor.

Part of your responsibility in the office is to help those who will be following in your footsteps. You have 2 responsibilities to help those “future friends.”

1. Make notes in your manual. What parts aren’t clear? What parts aren’t written the way things are done in the office. What jobs do you do that aren’t discussed in the manual?
2. Keep a notebook. Notes that will help make the manual more effective. Notes on the good and bad parts of your job. Include ideas and suggestions. I will expect you to have many good ideas to discuss with me. These ideas and suggestions are what separates you from the “Nine to fivers.”
3. Participates in 2/3’s of staff meetings without being prompted. Bring participation sheet to meeting with Dr.

When you are ready, bring your notebook, your copy of level II task descriptions, and any other information that will help you.

When you have completed every step in this level, arrange a 30 minute appointment with your doctor. Make sure your dentist has your level II manual & your notebook several days before your meeting. Plan to show the doctor what you’ve learned. You haven’t done your job if you haven’t written several pages in your notebook and inserted several ideas in the manual!

Congratulations on completing level II! You’re on your way to organize your time, achieve goals, and develop your career. Now it’s time for you to “coach” your dentist on how this level could have been easier for you to accomplish. Look back through your note book and tell him:

A. What should be added to the level two manuals to make them clearer or more complete? Give at least 3 ideas.

B. What were some of the best parts of what you’ve learned in this level?

C. Were there any tasks that should have been included in this level that were not discussed?

D. Employment Information
1. Describe your job as you see it?

2. Do the levels and pay seem reasonable?

3. Overall job satisfaction
Best parts of job

Worst parts of job

4. Changes to improve job satisfaction

5. Career goals (successful people set goals, what are yours?)

E. Annual review are you satisfied with your growth in the office? If not, what do you feel it should be?

F. Helpful hints
When is the best time for us to talk?

How often should we talk?

What are your special interests?

What motivates you to do your best?

What is your overall impression of your job?

To Finish This Section

• Make 3 copies of the following questionnaires
• Cut out the blank requests for 3 staff members to fill out this test for you.
• Staple a request to each test – do not fill out the request yourself
• Give these papers to Jill who will assign people to fill these out for you & get them returned.
Once they are returned, then Dr. Smith will review your results with you in your next level meeting.
